Goldy sits down at Kitchen Table, talks politics

West Pittston Mayor, Bill Goldsworhty, sat down at m “Kitchen Table” this past week.  He’ll be challenging State Representative Phyllis Mundy in the fall.
Please check this out.  We chatted about quite a few things from taxes to politics.

I needed a laugh and watched 4-5 minutes of Goldy looking toward the sky searching for answers to Valenti's "tough" questions. When it got to the comment about of Legislators lying to us then, and only then, did I realize that's why he's running. He'll fit right in. Nothing changes and with men like him it will get worse. It's a good thing he doesn't have a prayer. Rember my slogan--- "Goldy IS NOT worthy." Save your time and skip the video.

Joe, what do you mean I am off your list? When can I sit at the table? Don't forget however, you must have Pizza and Beer.

Mr. Goldsworthy has possessed quite a bit of power down through the years. Do any of you have questions as to how he's used this power? I thought JV would get a little more action under this topic. It would be good for Pittston Politics bloggers to share their thoughts on this. As for my question, I have my own theories. Unfortunately they're not positive ones. Now he's actually seeking a state seat. Amazing!

Money equals power.

Let me get this straight, he is suggesting the people of West Pittston vote for him in order to get rid of him...so why would the rest of us vote for him??

Goldsworthy isn't going into this blindly. Rumor has it that there are some interesting people backing him and that promises are being made. I'm hoping that the members of "The Mayor's Team" that separated from him have the good sense not to back him publicly. I wouldn't want to be looking for grants from Ms. Mundy after voting against her. Although Mundy is an upgrade from Goldsworthy, the difference isn't as significant as one might think. Mundy herself is not without question marks. They say that there's a Libertarian out there who is an advocate for small government. But we rarely take a chance on the new guy who is full of fresh ideas, who hasn't been polluted by the foul air of politics. Those people have little chance. But little do some know that they are the people who can and will bring about the change if we were to open our minds and quit sticking with that old devil we already know. I hate to say it, but until we take a chance and elect some new faces with fresh ideas, we're going to be weighed down with debt, corruption, and many other problems that we all face under current government.

JV put a lot of work into this project to make it as popular as it is today. I'm sure along the way, he had to make some sacrifices. What he prints isn't always popular. And let's not forget that he knows all these people, so it is difficult being in his business. One example of how difficult it is is him having to sit with Goldsworthy while he goes through his familiar rant. Even though the mayor has lost some of his juice, some people feel he's as dangerous as ever. Council and part of the police force want him to win the state seat so he's out of their hair. Not to be harsh, but that fact doesn't make them look too admirable themselves. Talk about giving the office troublemaker a promotion just so they don't have to deal with him anymore. Make him someone else's problem. Except in this case, the recourse would end up being much greater and affecting a greater number of people. But at the end of the day, we have our key figure. A guy that some feel has used his power in a negative way. A boy scout? That's pretty funny. I'll end this post by giving kudos to JV. Some people wouldn't let this guy sit at their kitchen table or even set foot on their doorstep for that matter.

You know what I think...the same people say the same things about the same people. & guess what? It's always the same negative comments from the same negative people. Why aren't their positive comments? Maybe because those people, who actually matter, don't waste their time commenting with people who have no sense. Your entitled to your opinion, but it seems everyone on this website hates life & needs to bash others to feel better. Or get their feelings out there anonymously, either way seems sad.

Guesswho, guess what? Forgive me for saying this, but I think one might be able to consider you an enabler of sorts. One who would support the questionable antics of our elected officials, cops, & others. Or if not outright support them, turn a blind eye to their misdeeds which is just as bad. Closing your eyes real tight and clicking your heels together 3 times and wishing all the bad things will disappear on their own might work in the merry ol' land of Oz, but not in the real world. Guess what else? There a lot of people who come here who are very happy with their lives. I am one of them. But we are unhappy with the way some abuse power. The individual in question, if he dislikes you, will be nice to your face but behind your back move mountains to destroy your life. This goes especially if he has weight on you. For years he's used his police force in a questionable manner. There are so many other things he hasn't been up front about, but I'd be here typing all day if I had to list them. So guesswho, guess what? You need to get a clue. Or better yet, just go on ignoring the situation. After all, we're the same ol' people saying the same ol' things and not making any sense. Better yet, if there are so many positive things to say, then why haven't you already said them? Cuz guess what? There aren't many positive things to say about this fella. And I'm being kind. If you give him a call later, he'll give you a few good things you can say about him. Tell him I said hello.

Just what we need. Another career politician.

I'm not going to run through a list of things that are positive because I don't need to prove to someone(you) who is already unhappy with this person in question. He's clearly not in question considering he won the previous election by almost 20%. Guess there are more positives than negatives taking into consideration that 20% margin. So your unhappy with his power usage but your blogging about it on a website?! Not your best medium.

& he's making mountains to destroy YOUR life?! wow, You must be pretty important. Not important enough to make that 20% margin alittle bit leaner. Anyway--People have friends, people have enemies..at the end of the day, if you have more friends than enemies, i'd say your okay! & trust me, I have a clue ;)

By: AsTheWorldTurns on 3/11/10
Guesswho, guess what? I never said the mayor was trying to ruin MY life. Nor do I feel I am "pretty important". I just gave my opinion. Elected officials are not supposed to lie & hurt people. As far as that 20% margin you said the mayor won the last election by, I don't think that's so impressive when you consider the person he went against has only lived in the town a short time & was virtually unknown. Actually, it shows that the people are sick of the mayor and his actions. And if you think I'm hiding behind the anonymity of the internet, how about both of us post our full names and addresses? I'll even provide my phone number. But guess what, guesswho? I doubt you'll do that. Like I said guesswho, you really need to get a clue. ;)

By: guesswho on 3/12/10
& I gave my opinion. Like I said before, everyone is entitled to their opinion. As for the margin, 20%=20%. These are numbers, and numbers don't lie. You keep saying people are sick of the mayor, then why wasn't it 20% in favor for BV? Thats all. I'm not sticking up for the person in question--i'm just stating facts. Again, everyone has enemies, everyone has friends. I consider you a friend. :)

As for the name and address, I live to far away & my name is hard to pronounce.

"As for the name and address, I live to far away & my name is hard to pronounce." Guesswho, guess what? That's an absolutely precious excuse, LOL! You claim the numbers don't lie. I wish I could say the same for the individual in question. As for the numbers, if Goldsworthy was in good standing, he would've completely annihilated his opponent. But he isn't. He's particularly unpopular with the police force. Guesswho, guess what? There's a reason for that. I don't want to make this too voluminous. I'm actually still waiting for a thank you from JV for helping his thread take off! LOL just kiddin'.As for you being my friend, I don't really know you, but I will give you some friendly advice. I found out the name of the candidate who stands for small government. I even spoke with him. I've heard many good things about him. But I had to see for myself. Guesswho, I've dealt with the very good & the very bad. I'm not saying one can't slip by me.what I will tell you is that Tim Mullen is uncorruptable. A new guy with new ideas. Uncorruptible. Gosh, that's a precious commodity these days. So maybe you'll take some friendly advice & look into Mr. Mullen. In the mean time, give our wonderful Mayor my love.
