Fleming needs Best's support against Carroll
Fleming needs Best's support against Carroll

Best, Carroll & Fleming
If there is one thing we know about incumbents who running for state office, local councils and boards usually support them.
This has been the case with State Representative Mike Carroll.
As we know, Carroll defeated Terry Best four years ago.
Carroll also easily defeated Best’s son, PJ, two years ago.
While it doesn’t look like Carroll will have a fight in the primary, we have confirmed Luddy Fleming will be challenging him in the fall.
Fleming has changed to Republican; has filed and will be on the ballot in the spring.
So it looks like he and Carroll will be squaring off in the General.
The way I see it, Fleming’s strategy has to come from many different angles.
First, as stated above, I think we’re all in agreement Fleming is going to have a tough time securing the support from sitting councils, supervisors and board members.
It’s not that these identities have a problem with Fleming, it’s because on the surface, Carroll has been able to deliver.
Consequently, their loyalty will most likely go to him.
Next, let’s assume he garners most the outlining vote which is predominantly Republican.
Let’s for a second also assume, because of the existing anti incumbent environment, he’ll dip into the Democratic vote in Greater Pittston
That alone, however, still will not be enough to carry him across the finish line.
Fleming will need to secure the anti Carroll vote.  And, he’ll need that solid.
   Who represents that faction?
   Terry Best.
Please recall when Fleming ran for Pittston City Mayor, Best was on the ticket for council.
After Best won, he withdrew his name for the general and lobbied to have his son, PJ, put in his place.
This didn’t sit too well with some, including Fleming.
It was the topic of talk radio for a few days.  In fact, Fleming called into the Steve Corbett show and threw Best under the bus.
And, I don’t think Terry forgot this.
While I don’t think Best will be openly supporting Carroll, don’t look for him to support Fleming either.

I will vote for Luddy. He shows promise. Yes he is rough around the edges. That I feel quite liberating. Not some pre-rehearsed monologue like Obama comes off with people who do the speech writing for him days in advance to upset any opposition. I personaly beleive that Terry Best will back who he beleives to be the best person and leave all past grievances behind. He is there for the people! Foremost. I would respect any decision made by him. Whether it be for the incumbent or other. He always puts the people first.Bill Gaffney, Pittston

No one is going to touch this. In the end the money will win. Per deims or not, it does not matter. Check to see who among the candidates made out on their respective property reassessments. Money talks, end of story.

Terry would be a fool to back anyone right now especially a weak candidate like Fleming. Stay out of this race.
