“Pat Solano has always been my 911 when I needed advice,” former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge told a crowd of over 500 at this year’s Lincoln Day dinner.
The former Governor was the keynote speaker at the GOP’s annual event.
Hughestown resident Pat Solano was the organization’s recipient of the Henry Hoyt Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Guest speakers who gave accolades to Solano included Mayor Lou Barletta, GOP Chair Terry Casey, Attorney General Tom Corbett’s wife Susan Corbett and Senator Lisa Baker.
“When I was the Republican Chairman back in the 70’s” Solano said in his acceptance speech, “I asked my grandmother, who was a Democratic all her life, to switch to Republican.”
“She responded,” Solano said, “’Pat I love you with all me heart, but I’m not going to become a Protestant.’”
After drawing laughter from the crowd, he continued saying that's how people of that generation thought.
