What...there was a MARCH?
What...there was a MARCH?

Hundreds of thousands showed up at the March for Life in DC
Lack of media coverage of the March for Life in the nation’s capital was one of the motivating factors in writing this article. A substantial number of people from this area were involved in the March, signifying great interest in the respect for life cause, surely newsworthy.
Unfortunately, I did not attend the March, but I heard wonderful thing about it at the 27th Annual Respect Life Prayer Breakfast, held last Saturday, January 30th, at St. Mary’s Center in Scranton. I was impressed by the more than 400 people in attendance, which included Attorney Thomas Marino, Dave Madeira, Lou Barletta, and AJ Munchak. Also in attendance were multiple clergy and youth. Prayer was offered by representatives of both the Jewish and Christian faiths, all united with the cause of respecting human life.
Atty. General Tom Corbett sent in his acknowledgement for thirty six years of activity by the Scranton Chapter of Pennsylvanians for Human Life to protect “the most defenseless citizens of the commonwealth - the unborn”.
Helen Gohsler, President of the Chapter and recipient of the PA Pro-Life Lifetime Achievement Award, announced that the three Lackawanna County Commissioners, Munchak, Washo, and O’Brien, have declared January 22nd Respect Life Day in Lackawanna County.
Ms. Gohsler said, “We will not be daunted by the election of the most pro- abortion president”. The energy in the room supported that statement.
Msgr. Joseph C. Bambera, Delegate of His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali expressed the Cardinal’s gratitude for the service of the Scranton Chapter. He stressed that life is God’s first and foremost gift to us. He also highlighted the power of prayer in our goal to defend life.
The principle speaker was Gary Cangemi, pro-life cartoonist and creator of Umbert the Unborn. What a dynamic and humorous speaker! Mr. Cangemi is truly gifted in getting a message across. He uses Umbert to change the view of the unborn by giving the unborn a face, a name, and a personality. He shared something he learned along the way-‘the best way to fight injustice is by making the injustice visible’.
Father Ed Bucheit joined Mr. Cangemi in leading the crowd in Umbert’s pro-life parody songs. It was an amazingly well organized, informative, inspiring, and entertaining event. Hats off to Mary Ann Hass and Joe Alinoski, Prayer Breakfast chair –persons!
The youth of the area were also recognized for there participation in the art and essay contest and in the March for Life, which took place January 22nd in Washington DC. More people from this area attended than ever. People at the March called it a life changing event. It is estimated that hundreds of thousands marched to protest the Roe vs. Wade decision, legalizing abortion-on-demand in this country.
So, YES, there was a March!

Yes, there was a march, and this local band almost played their pro-life anthem "Curse Of Blood" at it, however it didn't get to the organizers in time. Please take a moment and give it a listen... http://www.aweband.com/lyrics-lyrics-a-previews/curse-of-blood
