With Lombardo out, who will step up
With Lombardo out, who will step up

Mike Lombardo
While former Pittston City Mayor Mike Lombardo won’t be in contention for the upcoming Senate race, rest assured someone from northern Luzerne County will.
In fact, you may see someone from Lombardo’s inner circle step up to the plate.
As of this writing, we cannot disclose who this may be, but he or she will be as strong, if not stronger than Lombardo in the third and fifth districts.
For obvious reason, Lombardo would have been the best choice.  However, because of family commitments, the former mayor is stepping away.
I cannot say I blame him.  While timing may be perfect for him politically, timing is not perfect for him at the home front.
He has twin daughters who will be graduating in the next two years and he said, “I wouldn’t miss this time in their life for all the tea in China.”
   And, I respect that.
Finally, Lombardo has managed to be on the right side of the Governor's seat in Harrisburg for the past 16 years.  Please recall he supported Tom Ridge for his two terms and then supported Rendell this past eight.
