New job at PA needs to be justified

   Last week I received the following blog:
   “Someone should tell (name deleted) at PA the feds are in town.  He wants to create a $41,000.00, unbudgeted job and already told everyone who's getting it. Congat's (name deleted).  If the rest of the board doesn't want a visit from the feds they should vote NO. I heard (name deleted) even tried to make a deal with Bob Linskey???”
   I did not approve this, however, it did peak my interest so I did some digging.
   Some feel the Pittston Area Board is trying to create a $41,000 job under the guise of a District Safety Coordinator.
   Seven of the nine members feel this position will provide information and education regarding adherence to federal and state mandates.
   Bob Linskey and Ross Latona voted no to for the position because of budgetary constraints.
   The majority feels this new position will actually save the district money along with the possibility of lowering insurance premiums.
   The board has reached out to their insurance carrier to see if in fact there would be a rate reduction.
   OK – here’s the low down:  If the district’s insurance carrier comes back with cost savings to cover the creation of a new $41,000 job, them by all mean hire someone.
   However, if the district cannot justify the position with ACTUAL cost savings, then the statement of “create another $41,000 job under the guise District Safety Coordinator” stands.
