YEAR IN REVIEW: Judges top stories
JANUARY
By far the biggest story to hit Luzerne County in 2009 was the when the US Attorney’s office held a press conference announcing the plea agreement with Judges Conahan and Ciavarella.
While we list this as the top story of 2009, it is probably the biggest story to his NEPA in the past century.
This story was so big it made national news and ABC news featured it on their weekly news show 20/20.
With this story came some vindication with Judge Ann Lokuta who maintained she was targeted by the judges because she was not part of the good ole boys club.
FEBRARY
With three openings on the bench, names start to surface including Joe Musto and Joe Terrana.
Coupled with the Judicial indictments, Court Administrator William Sharkey joins Conahan and Ciavarella and is indicted.
