Bob Linskey & Dr. Ross Latona
PA Board members must have cut history class
For being two highly educated individuals, Pittston Area Board members Bob Linskey and Ross Latona must have cut history class.
While I was gone away the week of the past Pittston Area School Board meeting, both along with Kent Bratlee tried to modify the First Amendment of the Constitution.
Pittston Area Student John Lombardo touched on it a bit with his coverage of the meeting last week.
It looks like Bob Linskey isn’t too pleased with his opponents receiving campaign donations from the Pittston Area Teacher’s Union. He wanted to prohibit school directors from taking campaign donations from the Union and attempted to legislate federal election law from the Pittston Area Board room. Read More ...

WA Super Ray Benardi
Conflicting opinions on WA right to know request
“Communications between the Superintendent and school board are confidential and therefore this is not for public record.”
That was the response I received from Denise Holmes, Wyoming Area’s Right to Know Officer about a request I had made to     Wyoming Area for all correspondence from the District Superintendent to the board for the month of August 2009.
Wow!  That’s a pretty broad denial.
So I decided to ask Attorney Mike Butera who was filling in for Ray Hassey at this past board meeting about it.
Butera was in agreement with me that correspondence concerning personnel and legal matters would fall under the district's right not to disclose. Read More ...

It was a love fest for LaNunziata

I almost shed a tear when Ray Benardi had a love fest for John LaNunziata because it was LaNunziata’s last meeting.
I’m not going to opine on this because Benardi’s words speak volumes.  I’ll let you form your own opinion.
In fact, let’s hear your opinion on Benardi’s words for departing John LaNunziata.

Atty. Mike Butera
Butters fills in for Hassey
There was a bit of a gasp in the Wyoming Area Board room when Attorney Mike Butera took Ray Hassey’s (the district solicitor) seat at this past meeting.
At the end of the meeting George Race asked why Butera was there and not Hassey.
Board President Nick DeAngelo said Hassey was on vacation and that Butera was just filling in.
We also heard Butters was there because he might have to “field any of Joe Valenti’s questions.”
Wow!  I’m not exactly sure if that’s true but I can assure you that I’m just an innocent warm little fuzz ball.

Karen Holly & MIke Pasonic
Duo singing in perfect harmony
Thirty days in a federal halfway house.
That’s the amount of time former District Justice Karen Holley will have to serve for robbing the Sanitary Authority.
What does this light sentence tell us?
Karen Holley is singing like a bird.
Holley has been knee deep in Sanitary Authority politics forever.
As we all know, the Sanitary Authority has been the best kept secret in Wyoming Valley. Read More ...
